Vietnam and EU to meet in August

The EU and Vietnam will meet in early August to continue talks about a Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA).

A technical session by videoconference held in June was an opportunity to open the discussion between the EU and Vietnam to representatives of EU Member States including Germany and Finland. Draft reports of three studies on the legality definition, the stakeholder analysis and timber flows were presented during the meeting.

The reports will be finalised and shared with stakeholders before the VPA consultation workshop in August. This national workshop aims to inform stakeholders about the VPA process and engage them in a dialogue which will contribute to the design of a national legality definition for timber in Vietnam.
