Relaunch of negotiations on the FLEGT Voluntary Partnership Agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the EU
On 31 August 2012 the Ministry of Environment of the Democratic Republic of Congo announced the resumption of work of the Technical Commission in charge of the FLEGT VPA negotiations with the European Union.
The Ministry also announced the forming of two commissions of experts to identify the increase in illegal timber trade as well as to review all issues related to timber export.
The appointment of Ms. Yvonne Sansa Ayona as the new advisor and focal point for the FLEGT VPA negotiations affirms the country's intention to intensify the pace of negotiations with the European Union.
