Cameroon’s working group on corruption and the VPA holds its first meeting

Cameroon's newly formed working group on corruption and the VPA met for the first time in December to analyse corrupt practices that could affect VPA implementation.

The working group, coordinated jointly by Cameroonian civil society and the Ministry in charge of forests (MINFOF), was established following the Bonn conference on anti-corruption co-organised by EFI and GIZ in February 2012. After the conference, EFI supported discussions in Cameroon on the contribution of the VPA to curbing corruption in the forest sector. The working group's first outputs are expected in the coming months. Work will also continue during 2013 on meeting VPA commitments on the availability of information in the public domain.
