Honduras gears up for second round of VPA negotiations, welcomes FLEGT Facilitator
The Honduras Forest Institute has been intensifying its efforts to improve stakeholder representation for the country's VPA negotiations with the EU. With the financial support of the EU FAO FLEGT Programme, the Honduras Forest Institute held workshops in several areas of the country to raise awareness about FLEGT and the VPA. More workshops are scheduled until the end of September.
The institute has also begun drafting a legality definition, which will be the primary topic for Honduras' second round of VPA negotiations, to take place in Brussels during the first week of October.
The German development cooperation agency GIZ, through its PRORENA project, hired a facilitator for the VPA process in Honduras. The facilitator, Amparo van der Zee, took her position on 17 June. Her offices are located at the Agenda Forestal Hondureña.
