EU invites stakeholders’ inputs for EU Timber Regulation review
The European Commission has launched an open consultation as part of its review of the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR). The consultation is an opportunity for all stakeholders to provide input to the review. Stakeholders have until 3 July 2015 to submit their views through the online survey.
The review will assess the EUTR's functioning as well as its effectiveness at preventing illegally harvested timber or timber products from being placed on the EU market. The review will consider due diligence systems, administrative consequences for small and medium-sized enterprises and product coverage.
The European Commission will submit a report of the review to the European Parliament and the Council by 3 December 2015. The report may be accompanied by appropriate legislative proposals.
