New study looks at potential impacts of FLEGT on the Bolivian timber sector
The Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) developed an inventory of current activities on FLEGT in Bolivia tocontribute to a growing awareness among key Bolivian stakeholders on FLEGT and its implications for the local timber industry. This study describes progress made and challenges encountered.
The CBI Policy Intelligence study was done in coordination with the Chamber of Exporters of Santa Cruz (CADEX) and the Timber Task Force (TTF) in Bolivia in order to answer to the need in the Bolivian timber sector for more clarification on the new EU Timber Regulation, which will come into force in March 2013, and its implications for Bolivian timber exports to the EU market.
A team of consultants implemented a desk study and a field mission. Both in Bolivia and in the EU several companies that trade Bolivian timber, and other relevant stakeholders in the sector, were interviewed.
