Regional Workshop on Capacity Building Needs to Support Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade (FLEGT) in Asia
This workshop will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 16 and 17 October 2013 and will provide an overview of international timber market requirements and the available support programmes in the region.
Participants from government, civil society and the private sector are invited to identify key regional FLEGT support priorities and capacity building needs, in particular in the areas of stakeholder engagement, compliance with international timber market requirements with an emphasis on SMEs, and support structures for the development and implementation of timber legality assurance systems.
Hosted by the Thai Royal Forest Department, the event is co-organised by the EU FAO FLEGT Programme, the EU FLEGT Facility, the UK Forest Governance, Markets and Climate (FGMC) Programme, ITTO's Thematic Programme on Tropical Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (TFLET), the GIZ Forest Governance Programme, the Responsible Asia Forestry and Trade (RAFT) Partnership and the Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet).
