Transparency International report on forest governance integrity in peninsular Malaysia

Transparency International has published its report on Forest Governance Integrity in Peninsular Malaysia.

Transparency International's Forestry Governance Integrity Programme provides a basis on which to analyse and monitor corruption risks in the forestry sector. The study conducted in Malaysia took the form of an analysis of the whole chain of activities in the forestry sector, including the regulatory, timber supply and enforcement chains.

The report points out a number of matters and outlines a comprehensive set of recommendations on regulatory matters, forest harvesting, illegal logging, the timber supply chain, as well as management of forest offences and imposing staff discipline.

The full report can be found here. An interview with Michel Gary, Programme Coordinator for Transparency International's Forest Governance Programme, can be found here.
